Bharatanatyam
The classical dance of Tamil Nadu
A complete training in nritta, nritya and abhinaya — from the first adavus through margam repertoire. Rooted in the Pandanallur and Vazhuvoor traditions, with equal weight to technique and expression.

School of Dance & Music
Training rooted in the guru-shishya tradition — taught by master practitioners at our Jakkur studio, open to students of all ages and every level of experience.
Our Philosophy
Swastika School was founded on a simple belief: that artistic training is not about producing performers, but about shaping human beings. The rigour of classical practice — the repetition, the attention, the humility it asks of you — builds qualities that outlast any stage.
We offer structured training in Bharatanatyam, Carnatic vocal, art and yoga, taught in small batches at our Jakkur studio. Students range from 6-year-olds taking their first steps in dance to working professionals returning to a practice they once set down.
The relationship between teacher and student is the heart of everything here. We do not chase certificates or grades. We chase a particular kind of attention — the kind that builds, slowly, into a way of being.

A note from our director
Anuradha Venkataraman is a Bharatanatyam dancer and the founder of Ahum Trust. She has spent more than three decades inside the form — first as a student in the strict frame of guru-shishya training, and later as a teacher who has shaped hundreds of dancers across Bangalore.
For her, the school is not separate from the rest of Ahum's work. The same conviction that runs through Music by the Lake and the Kalakrida children's programme runs through every class here: that the arts belong to everyone, and that careful, patient teaching is how that belief gets kept.
She teaches the senior batches herself, and remains, after all these years, mostly interested in the long middle of a student's journey — the years between first steps and finished performer, where the real work happens.
