Impact — three dimensions
Expression
Children created original works reflecting their ideas and feelings. Groups composed songs; one child painted the two sides of Jakkur Lake inspired by a group discussion on local ecology.
Older girls produced a photo essay on belief, freedom and dreams — adding their own poems and konnakol recitations to bring each image to life.
Leadership
On performance day, when props were forgotten, the children improvised replacements on their own. Older students guided younger ones throughout.
Music and konnakol groups teamed up to blend rhythm and melody in a joint piece — a collaboration no one had planned.
Well-being
Children arrived with excitement each day. Many who were initially hesitant to speak were shining on stage by the end.
Munna captivated the audience with a contemporary dance critiquing mobile phone overuse. His first solo.
"Talking about feelings like anger or fear was hard, but if you ask us to write a story, it becomes easier."
